TBR Football can exclusively confirm what Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi thinks about a potential late move as the likes of Newcastle United continue to circle.

Newcastle have not had much luck in the summer transfer market so far, with just a handful of players joining and many more having slipped through the net.

Meanwhile, Marc Guehi continues to face an uncertain future at Crystal Palace, with his contract expiring in less than 12 months’ time.

TBR Football can also confirm how much the Eagles want for Guehi and how keen they are on letting him go in the last few weeks of the summer transfer window.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that Palace’s asking price for Guehi remains in excess of £40million, which Newcastle aren’t planning to reach.

In addition, Guehi is not actively looking to leave Selhurst Park this summer, so the only way Newcastle and other suitors can tempt him is with a big bid and good contract offer.

“Newcastle’s interest in Guehi has never gone, but their chances of getting him have not improved,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.

“I am told Crystal Palace’s asking price remains above £40million and Newcastle won’t go to that. They could try and tempt Palace, indeed it would not surprise me.

“However, my understanding is that Guehi is not jumping to leave this summer – let’s see how it plays out, but I think it would take a big offer for Palace to sell and also for Guehi to leave.

“He is less than 12 months away from being one of the most wanted free agents in world football.”

Why things could get even more difficult for Newcastle in Marc Guehi pursuit

Palace’s stance towards selling Guehi hasn’t exactly softened since the start of the transfer window.

TBR Football previously confirmed that Steve Parish will not allow Guehi to be sold for a cut-price deal – even if that means him going for free next summer.

And if Guehi becomes a free agent, the world really will be his oyster.

TBR Football understands that Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City are all in the mix for Guehi as well.

We can also confirm that Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also keen, though their interest is centred on a possible free transfer in 2026.

Guehi will have clubs after him who are in the running for titles and Champions Leagues, along with huge budgets, so Newcastle will have a lot more competition if he becomes a free agent.
