Oldham have allowed former Salford Red Devils pair Emmanuel Waine and Sam Littler to switch to a Championship rival for the remainder of the season.
Waine and Littler have joined up with Keighley Cougars on loan for the rest of the year after struggling for game time under Alan Kilshaw this season.
Littler, who started his career at Salford, hasn’t seen a minute of action for the Roughyeds so far and he’ll be going to Cougar Park to pick up some pivotal first-team experience. Waine, on the other hand, has featured twice for Oldham, but hasn’t managed to nail down a regular spot after joining from Bradford Bulls.
They’re both expected to step into the Keighley squad that will travel to face Newcastle Thunder this weekend. The Roughyeds do have the power to recall them at any point, though.
They join Jack Ormondroyd in leaving Oldham on loan this week, with the forward joining Super League outfit Bradford on Thursday.
“Manu and Sam have found game time limited due to the stop-start nature of our season so far,” Kilshaw said on their departures.
“It’s important they get some meaningful minutes under their belt. This move is beneficial for Keighley in the short term, and for us at Oldham as well, with both players getting valuable reps and experience in Championship games.”
Elsewhere in the second tier, Rochdale Hornets have announced the signing of Lukas Mason on a short-term loan deal from Wigan Warriors.
Mason has spent time with Oldham and Salford so far this season, but is still waiting to make his senior debut for the Warriors. He’ll step into the Hornets squad to take on Midlands Hurricanes at Spotland this Sunday.
