An Iranian man is among two arrested afterr attempting to enter Faslane naval base.

The 34-year-old man and 31-year-old woman, whose nationality is not known, were arrested after trying to get into the base where Britain’s nuclear submarines are based at around 5pm on Thursday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5pm on Thursday, March 19, 2026, we were made aware of two people attempting to enter HM Naval Base Clyde.

“A 34-year-old man and 31-year-old woman have been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing.”

A Navy spokesperson added: “Police Scotland have arrested two people who unsuccessfully attempted to enter HM Naval Base Clyde on Thursday, March 19.

“As the matter is subject to an ongoing investigation, we will not comment further.”
