The 1-0 defeat at St Mary’s on Wednesday night ended Norwich’s four-match winning run, while likely ending any faint play-off hopes in the process with eight games left this campaign.
Jack Stacey’s second-half exit against the Saints added to the injury concerns for City’s Belgian head coach, with Kellen Fisher the only fully fit senior full-back. Ben Chrisene missed the trip to Southampton after departing last weekend’s 2-0 win over Preston North End with a hamstring problem. A late call will be made tomorrow on whether Stacey or Chrisene will feature in south-east London.
Philippe Clement also provided an update on Jeffrey Schlupp, who has not featured since early November due to a hamstring injury. The left-back is now back on the grass and is a couple of weeks away from a return.
Both Oscar Schwartau and Mo Toure should be fit for selection after the international break, having been out with hamstring and groin injuries respectively. The rest of the squad’s current absentees continue to be sidelined longer-term.
Emi Marcondes has not featured since January’s defeat to Stoke City, despite being available for selection. The Dane has been an unused substitute on six occasions, most recently last weekend, and confirmed in an interview with Danish outlet Tipsbladet that he will leave Carrow Road when his contract expires this summer, with Philippe Clement confirming the attacking midfielder remains a positive influence around the group.
Charlton sit three points behind Norwich in the Championship table, having taken seven points from their last three games, including wins over Birmingham and Middlesbrough and a draw at Oxford. They are set to welcome their biggest home crowd of 2026.
Jovon Makama’s Boxing Day strike was the only goal as Norwich extended their run to four consecutive wins over Charlton.
