Coronation Street will not air at its usual time next Friday due to a schedule shake-up on ITV1. The soap usually airs weekdays at 8.30pm, but fans will miss out on Friday’s instalment as it has been taken off the schedule due to sports coverage on ITV1.

ITV’s coverage of England vs Uruguay begins at 7pm, ready for a 7.45pm kick-off time on Friday, March 27. This means that Coronation Street and Emmerdale will not air in their usual time slots.

Viewers will be pleased to know they won’t fall short next week, as ITV have scheduled an additional episode to air on Sunday instead.

Emmerdale will air at the earlier time of 7pm on Sunday, March 29 shortly followed by Coronation Street at 7.30pm on ITV1, to make up for Friday’s missing episodes.

The schedule shake-up comes at a tense time in both soaps, but a particularly dramatic time for the residents of Weatherfield.

ITV recently announced a gripping new storyline which will see one character left for dead.

A powerful flashforward episode saw Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) discover a dead body while heading into town after her mum, Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) wedding to Carla Connor (Alison King).

Coronation Street revealed the possible victims are Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), Jodie Ramsay (Olivia Frances Brown), Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McGlynn), Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) and Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).

Viewers have been making their own predictions on who could be killed, but all is yet to be revealed.

Coronation Street airs Monday at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
