Paris, August 06 (QNA) – France Galop has announced the tentative entry lists for two of the most important preparatory races for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, the Qatar Prix Niel for three-year-old thoroughbreds and the Qatar Prix Foy for horses aged four years and older, both classified as Group 2 events.

This eagerly awaited meeting will be staged on Sunday, Sep.7, 2025, at Paris-Longchamp Racecourse in France, drawing wide interest from the global horse racing community.

The results of these races serve as a decisive indicator in charting the competitive field for the foremost prestigious turf title in the world.

The technical significance of these trials lies in the fact that they are run over the same course and distance as the Arc itself, making them a genuine test of the horses’ abilities and preparations ahead of the great race in October.

In recent years, followers have grown accustomed to performances in these two events serving as a direct gateway to Arc nominations.

The entry list for the Qatar Prix Niel features 33 elite European horses, including 16 with prior victories in pattern races. Heading the field is Best Secret, owned by Wathnan Racing, who drew attention with a powerful recent win at Goodwood, alongside this season’s Epsom Derby champion Lambourn, regarded as one of the leading contenders for major honors this year.

The list also includes Cualificar, runner-up in the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club, who seeks to reaffirm his credentials in this important preparatory test.

As for the Qatar Prix Foy, the entries include a host of high-profile performers with impressive records, led by Map of Stars, also owned by Wathnan Racing, who claimed the Prix Exbury title this season in commanding fashion.

Also, on the list is rising star Sose, who captured last year’s Qatar Prix Niel and finished fourth in the Arc, before continuing his fine form this year with two Group 1 victories. Completing the formidable line-up are renowned names such as Jean Broglie, Los Angeles, and Erosion, all Group 1 winners with the experience to contest the global stage with confidence and authority.

With such an outstanding assembly of talent, Sep.7 promises racing of the highest calibre, a true dress rehearsal for those set to line up in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in October, shaping the contours of competition in the most valuable and celebrated turf race in the world. (QNA)
