Britain’s Got Talent was in Birmingham tonight (March 21), with 12-year-old James auditioning for the judges.

He was the second act shown on the ITV series tonight, which saw Simon Cowell replaced after he suffered a nasty accident.

Stacey Solomon stepped in for one day of auditions, before Simon – and his grazed head – returned the following day.

James wows Britain’s Got Talent judges

Singer James seriously impressed the judges as he performed Defying Gravity from Wicked.

Stacey said that she thought her kids were talented before she saw James. Alesha Dixon had tears in her eyes. Amanda Holden looked stunned by his talent. And even KSI agreed that he should sail through to the semi-finals.

Giving James four yeses, the panel sent the beaming pre-teen through to the next round. However, viewers at home were quick to complain that surely his stunning performance was worthy of the Golden Buzzer.

Golden Buzzer backlash

Complaints were soon levelled at the judges as James was left Golden Buzzer-less.

“James should have got the golden buzzer for that. Gorgeous voice,” said one. “Anyone else think James should of maybe gotten the golden buzzer so incredible,” said a second.

“Absolutely! I thought Ant and Dec were gonna do it,” said a third. “Bit of a crime that little James didn’t get a Golden Buzzer,” another commented.

“Can’t believe James didn’t get the Golden Buzzer!” another declared.

Amanda hits her Golden Buzzer

One act did get a Golden Buzzer tonight, though. Amanda Holden felt compelled to use hers after a performance by The Hawkstone Farmers Choir.

“Absolutely amazing well done all. Such a worthy Golden Buzzer,” said one viewer. Not everyone felt the same, though, with one complaining: “An average choir at best. Hardly Golden Buzzer worthy.”
