A report submitted with planning documents stated: “The concept is a modern, family-friendly retro gaming venue offering classic arcade machines and console gaming in a supervised indoor environment.

“The venue is designed to provide a safe and inclusive leisure space suitable for families, adults and gaming enthusiasts.”

The proposed venue would be open until 21:00 on Monday to Friday, 23:00 on Saturday and 20:00 on Sunday.

A spokesperson for Continue Arcades said it would bring “nostalgia” to the high street and they hoped to open it in the summer.

According to the council’s website, the planning application is currently undergoing public consultation and the authority has set a decision determination date of 13 May.
