A high street mainstay has opted to make a daring move after falling into administration. Quiz clothing has been a fixture in towns and cities across the UK for many years.

It operates 40 stores throughout the UK and concessions in New Look and Matalan outlets. However, earlier this month, Quiz plunged into administration, resulting in the loss of 109 jobs.

Redundancies have occurred across its Glasgow head office and its Lanarkshire warehouse. Its website has been deactivated and customers have been informed that online orders which have not been dispatched will be cancelled.

Quiz stores have remained operational, but in a radical step, the shops are offering even larger discounts to clear inventory. Price reductions have been implemented across all categories in an effort to deplete stock and attract customers.

Boots are reduced by at least 50% whilst other footwear is discounted by a minimum of 40%, according to Retail Gazette.

Quiz has applied discounts of at least 30% on its dresses, handbags and accessories. The remainder of the range has been marked down by no less than 20%, as per reports.

Alistair McAlinden and Geoff Jacobs at Interpath have been appointed as joint administrators. Mr McAlinden stated: “As we continue to explore options for the business, we would encourage shoppers to visit their nearest stores, with further discounts available on all remaining stock.”

Mr Jacobs added: “We’d once again like to pass on our profound thanks to Quiz’ dedicated staff who have shown such professionalism since our appointment.”

Quiz also operates seven concessions throughout the Republic of Ireland, which are encompassed in the administration. The business employs 565 staff members in total and was established in 1993 in Glasgow, Scotland, by entrepreneur Tarak Ramzan.

In a statement published on the Quiz website, the firm said: “Quiz’s online store has now closed. Customers will no longer be able to place orders via the website.

“Customers who have made a purchase via the website prior to 5th February 2026 and who now wish to return the item(s) will not be able to return goods in the usual manner.

“Customers are consequently advised to go to their nearest Quiz store where a replacement or substitute item(s) equal to or less than the value of the original purchase can be provided.

“Customers who have already returned items purchased via the website but who have yet to receive a refund will, regrettably, not receive a refund.

“Customers should contact the provider of the credit or debit card which was used for payment and seek assistance. Online orders that have not yet been despatched will, regrettably, not be fulfilled.”
