The owners of Clive Parade Pharmacy. on Cricklade Road, have taken charge of the one inside Moredon Medical Centre on Moredon Road and spent the last few weeks sorting problems people previously had with the health hub.

On Wednesday, Mayor of Swindon Fay Howard cut the ribbon to declare the pharmacy officially open, with staff and local councillors in attendance.

A pharmacy spokesperson said: “We had the pleasure of welcoming the Mayor to Moredon Pharmacy today on such a beautiful sunny day.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to show her around, share what we do, and discuss our exciting plans to better support the wider community.

“We’re really looking forward to what’s ahead and continuing to make a positive impact locally.

“A special thank you to Tru Delights for organising our sandwich platters — it’s always great to support local businesses.

“Thank you for taking the time to visit us!”

Following an outcry about repeated closures and bad service at several Jhoots pharmacies nationwide, Allied Pharmacies Ltd announced the acquisition of 68 additional Jhoots pharmacies on December 30, in addition to the 61 the company acquired earlier that year.

Asim Iqbal will use the expertise and good reputation gained from his other pharmacy to improve the experience for Moredon visitors.

He previously told the Adver: “It took a few weeks to renovate and clean out the back, add new stock, and recruit new staff.

“There’s going to be a permanent pharmacist, a familiar and trusted face, serving patients.

“I want to provide the same 10-out-of-10 level of service here that people get at Clive Parade, with plenty of stock and quick turnarounds for prescriptions.

“We have a good reputation and are well known in Swindon, which is why we wanted to bring vital services back to Moredon.

“We understand how important reliable access to medicines and healthcare advice is for the community, and we are committed to ensuring continuity of care, supporting patients with prescriptions, and re-establishing trusted pharmacy services at the medical centre.”

Its opening hours are from 8.45am to 6.15pm on weekdays as well as from 9am to 5.30pm on Saturdays.

Clive Parade remains open as normal following a major relaunch in October 2025 that saw the site improve its facilities, add extra consulting rooms and expand the range of health services available to residents.
