Corentin Moutet has been left furious after Danielle Collins went public with his alleged unsuccessful flirting. Collins is working as a pundit at the Miami Open, but turned her analysis to a very different subject over the weekend.
The 32-year-old American is out injured, so has had a microphone, rather than a tennis racquet in hand in Miami. And her work for the Tennis Channel caused a bit of stir on Sunday, with French star Moutet thrust into the spotlight.
Moutet, the world No.33, beat Tomas Machac on Saturday – but it was the events before that match which got Collins’ attention. She wasn’t shy in explaining the situation in a tell-all segment on the Tennis Channel.
Presenter Steve Weissman began: “So yesterday at the beginning of the show, Danielle, Corentin Moutet was practising, getting ready for his match, and he was shouting at you, he was cat-calling you, he was saying ‘give me a come on, give me a let’s go’. You take it from there.”

Collins then took up the story, saying: “And I basically said to him, I said ‘If you’re going to be flirting with me like that, you’re going to have to get a bigger serve’. Some people think it comes down to height, some people think it comes down to personality, but really what it comes down to is big forehands and big serves.”
Asked if that is what she needed to get flirted with, Collins replied: “Around here, yes. But yeah, it was kind of funny too because he unfollowed me after my darting profile went viral when I said I wasn’t interested in the short kings.
“You have to understand that I’m 5’10, and for me, right, it’s fair. It’s just a preference, I have nothing against the short kings. But he was upset about that and he messaged me and unfollowed me.

“He slid back into the DMs last night asking me if I saw his match and all the big serves that he was hitting. He did win yesterday.”
Asked if that made a difference to her thoughts, she said: “I don’t think he has a chance yet. He would have to bring a lot to the table, so I don’t think it’s going to happen, but who knows. We’ll see.”
Moutet – who is listed at 5’11 – should have been preparing for a match against world No.1 Jannik Sinner. But he still found time to post a furious response to Collins’ version of events on Sunday.
“How can I unfollow you when I never followed you,” he wrote. “@TennisChannel how can you let someone say BS like this on tv? You followed me. You asked me for mixed dubs. And I’ve never even followed you.
“You ready to say anything so people talks about you. You should learn how to love yourself so you won’t have to do stupid things for people loves.”
