Salisbury District Hospital posted on Facebook on Tuesday, March 24, in a plea to only attend A&E if you have a ‘life-threatening condition.’
A spokesperson for Salisbury Hospital said: “Our hospital is very busy. To help us care for those who need us most, we are asking that only patients with emergency or life-threatening conditions attend our Accident & Emergency department.
“If your condition is not urgent, please consider one of these alternative services:
“Your local pharmacy can offer expert advice for many common conditions.
“Call the NHS 111 line for guidance if you’re unsure which service is right for you.
“Local Minor Injuries Unit in Andover for minor head injuries, facial and eye injuries, and fractures.
“The Salisbury Walk In Centre is open 6.30 pm – 10 pm on weekdays and 8 am – 8 pm at weekends.
“You can book appointments through your usual routes at GP services.
“Please be aware that longer waiting times are likely, as our teams prioritise patients who are most seriously unwell.
“Thank you for your continued support and understanding.”
