Construction of a new multi-million pound health hub will begin this summer in Cardiff. Plans were approved for the Park View Health and Wellbeing Hub in Ely in May 2024, which will bring GP, mental health and family services all into one building.
Developed by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, the new hub will replace the existing Park View Health Centre and extend further on the land adjacent on Treseder Way. The new hub will be used by the around 15,000 people of Ely and Caerau.
Construction is expected to begin in June and the centre is expected to open in January 2028. Never miss a Cardiff story by signing up to our daily newsletter here

A petition objecting to the “loss of our green space for the building of the Health and Wellbeing Hub” was launched as the plans were announced, gaining over 180 signatures.
The aim of the new hub is to bring NHS care closer to people’s homes, allowing residents in the area to access a wide range of services in one place.
It will bring together health, social care and community services, including GP and primary care services, outpatient clinics, mental health and neurodiversity support, early intervention and family wellbeing services, and falls prevention support for older people.
The services that will be available include:

Geoff Walsh, director of capital, estates and facilities at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, said: “This long-planned scheme is a major milestone for Ely and Caerau. Since the closure of Park View Health Centre, delivering services locally has been challenging and this investment will enable care to be provided closer to home once again.
“Bringing services together with the Local Authority Hwb will support a more joined-up approach, while the relocation of Westway Surgery, made possible through Welsh Government Integrated Care Fund Capital Integration and Rebalancing Capital Fund (IRCF), will strengthen primary care provision for the community.”
