The Saints’ Under 19s Women’s side previously played friendly fixtures ahead of the 2025 season; however, that changed last season, as it was the first competitive Academy campaign. A 12-round season was played, further enhancing the growth and development of young women’s rugby league players

Four members of our Women’s Academy, ahead of the 2026 season, progressed from our Under 19s programme into the Saints Women’s First Team environment. Read more on our Academy players progressing to the First Team by clicking here.

Furthermore, St.Helens Women have been working with the Rugby Football League’s P2P programme, which is designed for female players in Years 10/11 as of the academic year starting in September. P2P is an opportunity for girls to develop their knowledge and ability both on and off the field with WSL clubs such as Saints, while still allowing for development with their community teams as well.

With a youth development programme from the Under 15s and up to the Under 19s side, it showcases our commitment to developing young female players for the Saints.

We are delighted to confirm the following players have been promoted up from our P2P programme, named alongside their local community clubs, whose work in developing the next generation of rugby league talent is always so greatly appreciated.

Olivia Doxey (Orrell St James)
Maddie Webb (Orrell St James)
Darcy Fleming (Blackbrook Royals)
Sofia Bourke (Halton Farnworth)

The Saints Women have also welcomed into our Academy ranks Jess Smith who has excelled in the community game for Rochdale Mayfield, and Ellie Hamilton who shone brightly playing for Warrington Wolves’ P2P side last year.

St.Helens Women can also confirm and welcome four more additions to our P2P programme, again named alongside their community team.
