Fans watching along to the latest episode of Married At First Sight Australia slammed one groom as a ‘complete clown’ after his wife walked out of the show just minutes in.
Viewers based in the UK are currently being treated to the latest version of the series of the reality dating show from down under, where couples meet for the very first time at the top of the altar and build their connection from there. The results so far are largely mixed to say the least.
This week has seen the couples partake in intimacy week. As part of this expert Alessandra Rampolla recently invited all the brides to indulge in their ultimate fantasy with their spouse.
However not every evening went to plan. This included between Rebecca and Steve. Rebecca was seen going shopping at an adult shop and bought some outfits she thought her husband might enjoy seeing her wear.
Unfortunately for her, he was very unenthusiastic about the fact of her dressing up for him. In his own words, he said: “I didn’t say don’t do it. I just said it would make me very uncomfortable if it happens.”

He later dismissed that the only reason Rebecca was taking part in the show was to find love. He claimed that he ‘was sure’ there must be other reasons and claimed people don’t reveal all in their audition tapes.
The situation only worsened for himself as he quipped to expert Alessandra that he did not have an earpiece in his ear to give him the right answers. Clearly believing he was hitting out at her, she replied sternly: “Honestly the lack of respect you are showing me here to someone who is trying to help you is appalling. Tread lightly. I don’t take to this well.”
Other grooms even told the camera they thought he was being selfish with one saying they thought a 50-year-old man would know how to speak to a woman. Steve claimed he was not speaking directly about Alessandra but she wondered who else would his comment be directed to.
Later, during his on camera interview with producers, he told them that he did not take much in from his conversation with Alessandra, largely dismissing everything that happened. He also said that he chose to withdraw and he felt there was a lot of contradiction in the room.

It didn’t take long for fans watching along at home to react to the latest developments. One person commenting on the MAFS subreddit said: “So what are Steve’s ulterior motives for being here? if he’s so sure there has to be some.” Someone else commented: “Ugh.. Steve is becoming more and more awful…”
While Rebecca first left the apartment, she returned after a night apart but then it was soon Steve’s turn to leave. After making no progress following his session with Rebecca, he packed up and left.
Fans were left stunned by his choice and one said: “Rebecca deserves a lot better. Cos what is this “so much for me” business. What exactly is she doing?? I’m so confused.”
Another replied: “Goodness Steve is diabolical and such a liar, he hasn’t tried.” While someone else urged: “Steve should just leave, he clearly doesn’t fancy or want Rebecca. Stop wasting everyone’s time.”
Elsewhere, one fan said on X: “Did Steve realise he was on a tv programme?! #mafsau”, another wrote: “If Steve is SO conservative, why even apply for this show, knowing what it’s all about #mafsau” while a different viewer added: “Did Steve not watch #MAFSAU before he applied?”
Married at First Sight Australia continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on E4 and streaming on Channel 4.
