Super League team news as Huddersfield Giants welcome back trio

Huddersfield Giants may be currently without a permanent head coach, but they do have some key players returning from injury.

In what would turn out to be his final pre-match press conference last week, Luke Robinson revealed that as many as four players could be in line for a return, and some of those players have been named in this week’s 21-man squad.

Full-back Niall Evalds, as well as winger Adam Swift, half-back Adam Clune and centre Connor Wrench were the quartet tipped to make their returns, and three of those are set to do that.

Evalds, Clune and Wrench are all named, as is St Helens loanee Jacob Douglas, who joined the club from St Helens earlier this week.

The returnees come into the side in the place of Leeds trio Presley Cassell, Ned McCormack and Riley Lumb, all of whom have returned to the club following their one-week loan deal.

For the Warriors, they make two changes to their 21, with the first being Tom Forber dropping out after joining Castleford Tigers on loan. He is replaced by former St Helens man Jonny Vaughan.

Lukas Mason, son of former Super League forward, Keith, also makes the initial side in place of Nathan Lowe, who featured off the bench for Wigan last week.

Should either Vaughan or Mason make the 17, it would be a club and Super League debut for both men.

Wigan Warriors 21-man squad: Zach Eckersley, Adam Keighran, Liam Marshall, Harry Smith, Ethan Havard, Brad O’Neill, Luke Thompson, Junior Nsemba, Liam Farrell, Kaide Ellis, Sam Walters, Patrick Mago, Oliver Partington, Jack Farrimond, Sam Eseh Jr, Kian McDermott, Taylor Kerr, Lukas Mason, Jonny Vaughan, Noah Hodkinson, Dayon Sambou
