Avenue Tennis Club in Burnham-On-Sea is celebrating a successful winter season, with its Mixed Doubles teams securing top positions across several divisions ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The club’s A, B and C Mixed Doubles teams all finished first in their respective divisions — 4, 5 and 8 — following a strong summer season. The B team still have one match to play but are already too far ahead to be overtaken. The D team finished fifth, with many new players competing in league tennis for the first time.
The club’s Vets team found Division 1 particularly competitive after last year’s promotion and will return to Division 2 next season.
Pictured are members of the Avenue A team — Emily Rossitter, Charlotte Bolton, Ned Lawton and Steve Eley — and the C team — Shirley Hyde, Fiona Griffiths, Darren Lloyd and Paul Carter. Photos of the B and D teams will be shared soon. Full match details and results can be found at nstl.co.uk by searching for “Avenue”.

The club continues to grow its membership, offering year‑round access to four floodlit astro‑turf courts and four floodlit hard courts, a well‑equipped clubhouse and bar, free use of a ball machine, discounted coaching, and a busy programme of social events. Membership runs annually from 1st April, with details available at www.avenuetennis.com.
Social tennis sessions for all abilities run throughout the week, and courts can be booked via the LTA Clubmark system. Competitive players can join the club’s Ladies and Men’s teams, with practice nights on Mondays and Tuesdays. An internal singles ladder is also open to members.
Coaching for juniors and adults is led by Head Coach Tim Seymour, who offers group sessions, private lessons, cardio tennis and school holiday camps. Details and booking are available at www.tennis-extreme.com.
Pickleball is also thriving at the club, with organised sessions on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons, with equipment provided for newcomers.
Junior members can enjoy free Friday night coaching with LTA‑qualified coaches Vinny Duddy and Megan Rundle, with sessions split by age group from 5pm to 8pm. The clubhouse bar is open throughout the evening.
The club also hosts popular Wednesday Night Suppers, offering a three‑course meal for £13.50. Bookings can be made via organiser Jose on 07919 116912.
The clubhouse and bar are available for private hire through committee member Dianne Kilmartin.
