NASA is holding another Q&A now, this time with some of the officials who are overseeing the final preparations for the launch.

They seem very pleased with how things are going, but there is one thing that’s out of their control – the weather.

Chris Cianciola, deputy manager of the agency’s space launch system, says: “We got our latest forecast and the thing we’re watching is cumulus clouds, and also winds.

“Right now, we’re forecast to be 80% go on Wednesday afternoon.”

The official launch countdown is set to start tomorrow at 3pm local time (8pm UK time), he adds.

“At this point, we can safely saw the crew is ready, the spaceship is ready, the ground crew is ready. We only need the weather to be ready.”
