Rafael Nadal’s skill with a racket has made him one of the greatest athletes of all time; still, despite his personal achievements, Nadal credits a lot of his success to his family. Now retired and with a far less demanding schedule, Nadal is dedicating as much time as he can to the people that matter most to him, especially Mery Perelló and their two children. Right before Easter, Nadal and his family escaped to paradise.

“Recently, I spent very special days with my family in the Exumas. A unique place, full of beautiful nature. We are very lucky to enjoy places like this, and it reminds us how important it is to protect them for the future. Always grateful for these moments with my family!” he captioned the post, attaching numerous photos from their trip.

Joining Nadal, his wife, and kids were his parents, his sister Maribel, and more close relatives.

The getaway offered unforgettable snapshots, including a rare family photo with Perelló and their two kids. Their first son, Rafa, was born in October 2022 and accompanied his father during the final stretch of his career, attending matches and milestone moments such as the Olympic torch relay at the Paris Games. Their second child, Miquel, was born in August, nine months after Nadal officially retired as a professional tennis player.

These days, Nadal is fully focused on his family and on enjoying a quieter rhythm of life off the court. He starts his mornings early, spends time playing with his children, does school runs, and shares his passions with them through everyday moments. While no longer competing, Nadal remains closely connected to the sport, playing golf a few times a week and overseeing the academy and foundation that bears his name.

Nadal also makes time for his extended family, who joined the trip. “Nothing I am today could have been built without the pillars that support me and have helped me grow,” he’s said in the past about them.

Their destination, the Exumas in the Bahamas, is one of the world’s most exclusive locations. The chain of 365 islands is known for its sapphire-blue waters, private beaches, and secluded cays, as well as luxury resorts that guarantee privacy. It has also served as the backdrop for beloved films like “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Casino Royale.”

A new honor for a sporting legend

Nadal’s deep connection to his family goes deep. Last week, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Technical University of Madrid. During the ceremony, he highlighted the role of his uncle and former coach, Toni Nadal.

“From my uncle, I learned that hard work, discipline, and humility are just as important as talent. Talent matters, but it is never enough on its own. Behind every achievement, there is always a long process of preparation, analysis, constant work, and continuous improvement,” he said.
