Another of those who has served their apprenticeship. Cox, like Ball and Evans before her, hosted the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, and has been a Radio 2 regular since 2011. She currently sits comfortably in the drive-time seat (indeed, during her stint, the show has been extended from two hours to three), so it’s unclear if she would fancy those early mornings (though she has been a recent stand-in on the breakfast show), but she’s a natural fit. She hosts live radio like falling off a log; she’s funny and personable, and is a general, genial presence on BBC television, having hosted The Great Pottery Throw Down, Back in Time for… and book review show Between the Covers. Now 51, Cox retains some of her cool, “wild child” credentials from her early career as host of The Girlie Show and The Big Breakfast, yet remains a down-to-earth farmer’s lass at heart.
