St Joseph’s Boxing Club in Newport is working with the Gwent Police and Crime Commissioner to deliver the sessions, which include boxing-derived sessions.
Billy Reynolds, a coach at the club, said: “This is not a new project for us, we have been delivering Health & Well being sessions to Newport schools for years.
“However, now we are working with the Police Crime Commissioners we can go one step further and incorporate our lessons in line with the school curriculum and do it on a regular basis.”
Each session lasts one hour and is delivered to classes of around 30 pupils.
Mr Reynolds is joined by long-time club supporters Roger Williams and Tony Borg, as well as other coaches from St Joseph’s.
Pillgwenlly policing team members PCSO Mark Watts and WPCSO Sam Davies recently visited the club.
PCSO Mark Watts said: “this is the first time I have visited St Joseph’s, and I can tell you now, it won’t be the last; this club is a fantastic example of community volunteering.
“I am so looking forward to joining the club coaches at one or two of the school sessions.”
