Milly Alcock and Jason Momoa are teaming up for an adventure through space in Supergirl.
Alcock, 25, stars as Kara Zor-El, the cousin to David Corenswet‘s Superman, in the spinoff to last year’s Superman movie, the second film in the new DC cinematic universe. A new trailer for the movie released by Warner Bros. on Tuesday, March 31, shows that Kara gets into trouble during her adventures in space when Krypto the Superdog is injured during a fight on another planet, leaving her with only a few days to save her beloved pet.
“When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice,” reads an official synopsis for the movie.
Supergirl’s cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, and David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Kara’s parents. In particular, the new trailer gave audiences a look at Jason Momoa as the anti-hero Lobo, who seems to team up with Kara in the film after running into her at a bar. Momoa, 46, previously portrayed Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe movies.

PEOPLE previously attended a teaser trailer watch party for the movie in December, where Alcock shared that she was most excited for viewers to see “all of our crew’s hard work in curating all the worlds physically, all the aliens and the VFX.”
“Literally thousands of people made this project come to life. So I’m really excited for their work to be reflected,” she said at the time.

Corenswet appeared briefly in the trailer as Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman. DC Studios chief James Gunn’s new DC Universe will continue after Supergirl with the movies Clayface, which stars Tom Rhys Harries, scheduled to release Sept. 11. After that, a sequel to Superman, titled Man of Tomorrow, is scheduled to release July 9, 2027.
Supergirl is in theaters June 26.
