Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was ‘attacked by a woman’ in Santa Monica on Wednesday morning, it has been claimed. Born in California’ in 1949, Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975.
According to reports, the 76-year-old guitarist was heading to an appointment when the individual “threw an unknown substance” at the two-time Grammy winner before fleeing the scene. Authorities allegedly described the woman as “a stalking suspect,” and confirmed that she is known to Buckingham.
It’s thought the woman found out when and where Buckingham had an appointment and showed up at the location. It is allegedly not the first incident between Buckingham and the unidentified woman, and an arrest is expected soon, authorities said.

The musician wasn’t injured in the attack and remained unharmed, according to NBC4 Investigates.
Buckingham had previously addressed incidents with an alleged stalker in 2024, when he served a restraining order against a woman who he said made him feel as if his life was in danger, and had harassed his family.
An LAPD Detective at the time confirmed that papers had been served to a 52-year-old woman named Michelle, and Buckingham was granted the temporary protection.
The woman was ordered to stay 100 yards away from Buckingham, Messner, and his son, William Buckingham, In Touch reported at the time.
At the time, he claimed the harassment had begun in 2021, when the woman found his wife Kristen Messner’s phone number, and repeatedly called her.
He claimed Michelle would curate “long-drawn-out texts” posing as his daughter, and issued dangerous threats to kill him and his family.
“She also blamed me for facial deformities she apparently suffered as a child and demanded money,” he said at the time. “I do not know [Michelle] and I am not her father.”
Police became involved in the matter and instructed Michelle to stop contacting Buckingham and his wife in 2022. He then learned she had also been contacting his son since 2021, and that he had been ignoring calls from her.
Michelle resurfaced in 2024, with Buckingham and his wife receiving a picture collage on their mailbox of photos of his face with Michelle’s and that she showed up at one of his LA homes as well.
He escalated things to the restraining order after a November incident when he was woken up in the middle of the night by “nearly a dozen” police officers, and was handcuffed and asked to step outside of his house because of a 911 call that had been received stating that William was in the house and wanted to harm himself, and that there had been gunshots.
After the police realized he call was fake, he was uncuffed, and it was later confirmed to have been traced back to Michelle.
“I now know that the 911 call was traced to [Michelle’s] phone and was the latest in an unabated pattern of harassment and threatening acts against my family and me,” he said at the time.
