Sherfield-on-Loddon Garden Centre and Café officially opened its Woodland Garden Adventure Golf course on Monday, March 30.
The 18-hole course promises fun, challenges, and plenty of green-side excitement for all ages, just in time for families looking for activities during the Easter holidays, and Basingstoke Gazette Readers are being offered a 20 per cent opening discount.
Katie, 9, played the course with her cousins, said she found it fun working out how to navigate the different features on each hole and added: “I had a lovely time smelling and seeing the flowers and playing golf.

“Some holes were really hard. I really liked the one with the flower in the middle, we kept knocking each other. What a lovely day out with my cousins, we are definitely coming again.”
Colin Campbell-Preston, managing director for Capital Gardens, explained: “We have designed a new innovative course in a garden setting with thousands of plants, taking our inspiration from the beautiful Masters Golf course in Augusta, Georgia.
“With our Woodland Garden Adventure Golf, we’ve created a space where younger players of all ages can enjoy adventure and discovery, while adults and grandparents can share a friendly, competitive round in a relaxing natural setting, alongside a flowing stream.
“We have woven in numerous calm seating areas with benches, making it ideal for visitors who might like to relax between holes. We believe we’ve created more than just a game, it’s an experience filled with fun, exploration and a connection to nature and plants.”
Councillor Onnalee Cubitt, cabinet member for major projects and regeneration at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, officially opened the course, before playing a hole and exploring the family-friendly facts about plants, gardens and famous gardeners featured throughout the experience.
She said: “It’s wonderful to see such a creative and engaging attraction open in our community. Woodland Garden Adventure Golf beautifully combines outdoor activity, learning and fun, making it a fantastic destination for families of all ages.”
Designed to be both engaging and relaxing, Woodland Garden Adventure Golf offers a perfect setting for families and friends to enjoy a memorable day out together.
Created with all ages in mind, the first to play the course was Kirsty Crouch and her family. And, to mark this exciting occasion, they were gifted a Camila plant for their garden and a bottle of Prosecco.
The third visitors to take on the new course with its quirky golf challenges were Susan Duncan and her mother.
Enjoying the experience to the full, she shared their enthusiasm: “We absolutely loved it. The course is going to look and smell beautiful. We will definitely be back and can’t wait to see the wisteria in bloom on our favourite hole.
“We also really enjoyed reading the information boards along the way, especially as we both love walking around gardens.”
Visitors can combine a round of golf with refreshments in the award-winning Greenhouse Café, as well as browsing around the Garden Centre during their visit.
