Greece’s unemployment rate stood at 8.5% in February 2026, compared to a revised 9.2% in February 2025, and a revised 7.9% in January 2026.

The number of unemployed people stood at 410,506, a decrease of 26,664 compared to February 2025 (6.1%); but an increase of 32,345 compared to January 2026 (8.6%).

The unemployment rate for women dropped to 11.3%, from 11.9% in February 2025; as it did for men, to 6.2%, from 7.1% from a year ago.

By age group, the unemployment rate in the 15-24 bracket edged down to 17.6%, from 17.8% in February 2025; and in the 25-74 age group, it dipped to 8% from 8.8%.

According to the workforce survey by ELSTAT, the number of employed people stood at 4,412,218, an increase of 118,997 compared to February 2025 (2.8%), and an increase of 8,870 compared to January 2026 (0.2%).

People under 75 years old who are not included in the labor force – neither working nor looking for work – amounted to 2,906,805 in February, up by 121,794 from February 2025 (4%), but down by 45,511 compared to January 2026 (1.5%).
