Good morning, first of all. Welcome back to our live coverage of Yorkshire’s first-team matches throughout the 2026 season.
There is some early bad news, though. It’s raining in Cardiff and the covers are on, right across the square, with a significant amount of water on top. We can almost certainly say there will be a delayed start at 11am.
When we do get going….
Yorkshire open the summer at Sophia Gardens against newly-promoted Glamorgan, who are back in Division One for the first time since 2005 having come up last year behind second-tier champions Leicestershire.
They have a coach who is familiar to Yorkshire supporters in Richard Dawson and new captain in top-order batter Kiran Carlson. He has replaced Sam Northeast, who returned to Kent over the winter.
Anthony McGrath has named a 14-man squad for this clash, with Logan van Beek and Sam Whiteman in line for debuts. Jhye Richardson is a little bit behind them in terms of preparation. Fingers crossed, he’s ready to debut at Headingley against Hampshire this time next week.
That squad is as follows: Bairstow c/w, Bean, Bess, Cliff, Coad, Hill, Luxton, Lyth, Moriarty, Revis, van Beek, Wharton, White, Whiteman.
Over the last couple of days, we have published a couple of articles on site in preview to this fixture.
One is the Match Previewwith Matthew Revis.
The other is a bygones piece with Gavin Hamilton from 1998 when he starred for Yorkshire against Glamorgan at Cardiff.
As ever, there will be a live stream once play gets underway here in South Wales. That is available at the top of the page.
