Vanity scenes in 2025 were not expected by Emmerdale fans, while they were hoped for. So as exes Charity Dingle and Vanessa Woodfield unexpectedly locked lips during Thursday’s episode it certainly left fans talking, screaming and the rest.
Charity chose to confide in her former fiancée in the latest episode, instead of her husband Mackenzie Boyd, after suffering from bleeding. Charity had recently had an embryo transfer procedure after agreeing to be a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah Sugden.
It comes as spoilers confirm next week Charity finds out she is pregnant, while it’s been teased she could be hiding something. After suffering bleeding this week, on Thursday Charity hit the bottle, distraught that she’d “failed” Sarah believing the embryo had not taken.

Vanessa reassured Charity, trying to stop her from blaming herself with her fearing she’d “let Sarah down” and not taken enough care. Vanessa rightly told her she was not at fault, and did her best to be there for her friend and ex.
But things took a turn when Charity refused to leave after Vanessa suggested helping her home. Charity pleaded with her, telling her she wasn’t ready to go home, and didn’t want to be around her household.
So Vanessa agreed for her to stay over, telling her she’d sort out her sister Tracy’s room so she could sleep in there for the night. But Charity had other plans, declining the offer unless Vanessa stayed with her “to keep her company”.
Vanessa seemed taken aback but before she could say anything Charity leaned in and kissed her, with the episode very quickly coming to an end. Vanessa didn’t appear to pull away, but the episode cut to the credits within seconds.

So what does this mean for Vanity, and could it signal a reunion is on the cards? Viewers will have to tune in on Friday to find out what happens next and what it means for Charity’s marriage to Mack.
The moment left fans “screaming”, thrilled over the twist with some hoping it would change everything. Taking to social media, one fan shared images of the scene and simply wrote: “SCREAMING.”
Another fan said: “VANITY KISS IN 2025 WE ARE SO BACK!!!” A third fan posted: “Can’t believe it took 5 years but hopefully this is just the beginning of something beautiful blossoming between these two again. Emmerdale better not disappoint us anymore.”
A fourth fan wrote: “Five years late but welcome back Vanity.” A firth viewer commented: “HOW IS THIS REAL? Vanity back in each other’s arms in the year 2025?!??”
