There were long queues in Cardiff on Friday as food fans headed into the city centre to get a hold of some fried chicken.
A winding line of people queued all the way past the front of the new shop, at the corner of St Mary Street and Caroline Street, into the Wyndham Arcade and all along the arcade past The Wardrobe shop and beyond.
Many were groups of school children on their Easter holidays.
The reason for the excitement was the opening of Dave’s Hot Chicken – a Nashville-style chicken shop that originated in LA and is backed by rapper Drake. For the latest restaurant news and reviews, sign up to our food and drink newsletter here.
Opening its doors at 11am the queues continued once serving had started and were still going more than an hour later over lunchtime. Part of the attraction of the new chicken shop is that they were giving away 200 chicken sliders.
The brand is very popular on TikTok with videos of their menu items accruing millions of views and reviews.
