An emergency response remains at the scene

A large emergency response is currently at the scene of a crash on a major road. Around 5.40pm, emergency services were spotted on the M8 westbound between J1 Hermiston Gait and J2 Newbridge.

Police, Scottish Fire and Rescue and the Scottish Ambulance Service were all spotted at the scene. It comes after reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle.

A white car was spotted at the side of the road with officers carrying out investigations. Three SFRS appliances were dispatched to the scene and emergency services remain in attendance.

It’s not yet known if there have been any injuries. A SFRS spokesperson said: “We are currently in attendance on the M8 westbound. We sent three appliances to the scene.

“We were made aware around 5.40pm and we remain in attendance.”

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
