Bank holiday opening and closing hours will change during Easter Monday

Easter is here and millions across the UK are celebrating. And once more, with Easter Monday a bank holiday, it means people across the country are enjoying an extra-long weekend.

With Easter Monday, following Easter Sunday, you might want to be prepared for the break by checking when stores will be open around the UK.

There are specific laws in place which limit certain retailers from being able to open on Easter Sunday. These rules are similar to the trading restrictions which shoppers will see on Christmas Day.

In England and Wales, large shops – 280 square meters or larger – are mandated to close on Easter Sunday. However, on other bank holidays, such as Easter Monday, shops can open but often use reduced, Sunday-style hours.

Shops smaller than 280 square meters face no legal restrictions on bank holidays and can therefore choose what hours they will remain open.

Here are the opening times for Aldi, Asda, Tesco, M&S, Lidl, Morrisons, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

Aldi

Aldi stores will be open 8am-10pm on Easter Monday.
