Police said the death was being treated as unexplained and an investigation was under way in liaison with the regulator.
GoSkydive, which operates at the airfield, said that the incident involved a solo skydiver who was operating independently of GoSkydive’s operations, which is focused exclusively on tandem skydiving experiences.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the individual involved, their family and all those affected by this tragic incident,” a spokesperson said.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to all emergency services, air support and on-site personnel for their swift and professional response, as well as to the ground teams that assisted.”
