With The Wire at the top of Super League, looking forward to a Challenge Cup quarter-final on Saturday and having a raft of young talent coming through the system, he sees a bright future and has extended his contract.
The 31-year-old, Wolves’ current longest serving player, will take his stay at the club to 17 years after signing for a further two seasons as a reward for form that has him playing as well as he has ever done.
“It’s great to get it over the line. It’s a process I didn’t want to take too long because there’s not really anywhere else I want to be at the moment,” said Currie.
“I’m really happy, for me and my family. To stay at this club for another two years is exciting times.
“I came here as a 16-year-old when I joined the Academy and ever since then it’s felt like home.
“I’ve moved here, had kids here, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

Head coach Sam Burgess has got the best out of Currie since making the call last year to feature the England international down the middle as a ball-playing loose-forward as opposed to wider out as a second-rower.
He must be one of the first names on the teamsheet on a match day, with Burgess saying: “He’s part of the fabric of this club, a consistent performer each week and someone who drives standards every day within the group.
“He’s a quality bloke and a valuable asset for the club.”
Since making his debut aged 17 against the then-Salford City Reds in 2012, Currie has progressed to make 320 appearances for The Wire.
He recently crossed for try number 100 away to York Knights, confirming his place among the exclusive club of just 23 players who have managed the same feat.
Currie follows in the footsteps of Luke Yates, another high-performance forward whose terms were due to run out at the end of 2026 but signed a new two-year deal in February.
