Wales U18s sing the national anthem
Wales U18s came agonisingly close to claiming a notable victory over France U18s but ultimately slipped to a 33-31 defeat in Vichy.
But this was an extremely encouraging performance from Richie Pugh’s side and there is reason to get excited about many players. Wales scored five tries in total courtesy of Jac Cloke (twice), Jac Williams (twice) and Tiaan Hall while Evans kicked six points.
Here are the player ratings.
15. Dylan Quinn 7
The Ospreys academy prospect held his own defensively and saved a try early on by getting underneath the French carrier over the try line.
Generally solid in defence and competed well in the air.
Dangerous with ball in hand.
14. Jac Williams 8
The Llandrillo RFC and RGC product was Wales’ most dangerous attacking player with his pace causing France problems out wide.
Williams was also very strong under the high ball and made some important tackles.

The Ysgol Glantaf product put in a solid performance marshalling the defence well and making some vital defensive reads.

It was Kinsey’s smart kick into the French 22 which resulted in Jac Williams’ second try.
11. Harvey Bryant 7
A solid performance by the Cardiff wing who tackled well and looked a threat with ball in hand.
10. Madog Evans 6

But he missed five conversions, which cost his team.

The Coleg y Cymoedd student got his backline moving with his slick service, and his kicking out of hand was also very good.
Thomas was a threat with ball in hand, and his game management was also good.

There was a huge amount of hard graft from the 17-year-old who got through a mountain of defensive work.
Tuliakiono also made a couple of powerful carries.
7. Jac Cloke 9 (star man)
An outstanding performance by the captain who was everywhere.
He got through a mountain of work at the contact area, carried well and touched down for two tries.
A big future awaits the Coleg Sir Gar student.
