The gifted fighter hasn’t boxed in his homeland since 2013, making it not just a massive occasion for the boxer himself, but also his adoring fans.
As per Sporting News, his promoter, Bob Arum, said: “Oscar Valdez is a warrior, and this is a great opportunity for him to return home and prove he still has what it takes to contend at 130 pounds.
“Oscar has been with Top Rank since he turned pro, and we are in his corner as he attempts to become a three-time world champion.”
What do we know about Oscar Valdez’s opponent, Ricky Medina?
Medina is going into the biggest fight of his life against Valdez.
The American went 13-0 before suffering his first loss in 2022 against now world champion Raymond Ford.
After the tough defeat, he bounced back with two consecutive victories against Steve Garagarza and Juan Antonio Lopez.
However, he then suffered heartbreaking losses at the hands of George Acosta and Geo Lopez.
He won his last outing against Angel Hernandez Pillado.
