Kurt’s full post:

I began my official visit to London with a meeting with the UK Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, my second visit in the last six months. At this meeting, I expressed my gratitude for the UK’s continued support for Kosovo, highlighting the multifaceted and stable relationship between the two countries, built on shared democratic values and a commitment to security and prosperity. I described the UK as a key strategic partner and reiterated my commitment to further deepening bilateral cooperation. I also met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Odile Renaud-Basso, whom I thanked for her significant financial support for Kosovo’s development. We discussed continued support for the growing private sector and for public infrastructure projects, such as energy, water and public transport. The visit continued with participation in a panel organized by the think tank ODI Global, where, together with the executive directors Sara Pantuliano and Dora Meredith, as well as the well-known economic analyst Martin Wolf from the Financial Times, we discussed economic state-building and global stability. In the evening, I attended a dinner hosted by the Minister of State for Defense, Lord Coaker, at the Naval and Military Club, where we discussed defense cooperation and wider security issues.

On the second day of the visit, I had the pleasure of being part of the opening panel at the London Defence Conference, in its fourth edition, alongside the UK Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Dame Karen Pierce, Republican Congressman from North Carolina Pat Harrigan, the Chief of Defence of the Netherlands Armed Forces, General Onno Eichelsheim, and Professor Julian Lindley-French. The discussion focused on the meaning of defence and preparedness in a time of multiple global crises. After the panel, I conducted an interview with the conference director, Iain Martin, where the conversation focused in more detail on Kosovo’s journey towards the European Union and the security challenges and threats coming from Serbia and Russia, in the context of an upcoming podcast. The visit concluded with a dinner with renowned historian and academic Sir Noel Malcolm from the University of Oxford, the most important international voice on the history of Kosovo.
