Felsted Railway Station, which closed completely in 1964, sat on the Bishop’s Stortford-Dunmow-Braintree branch which worked to get Essex produce quickly into London markets.
The main station building in Pit Cottages, Station Road survives today as a private house and the old track bed forms part of the Flitch Way, the popular walking and cycling route along the former branch line.
Locals have noticed the site has become overrun with fly tipping, with photos showing almost a dozen mattresses, sofas and signposts, household items and heaps of rubbish lining the road.

Adian Kelly, 54, lives in Braintree and often cycles or runs through the Flitch Way route, sometimes to Felsted Railway Station.
“It’s been getting worse over years,” he said.
“It’s just become derelict. It’s been used recently as a fly tipping site.”
Mr Kelly said the site may have become known as a place for fly tippers to dump their rubbish.
“Rayne Station is the same type of building and it’s got a use as a café,” he said.
“It’s a shame Felsted Station is forgotten about. It’s very sad to see it in that state.”
Mr Kelly said he hadn’t yet personally reported the fly tipping, but that he believed Uttlesford Council must be aware.
Uttlesford Council was contacted for comment.
