Google Wallet‘s ability to autofill details is a convenience, but the same convenience can be a little too eager at times.

Imagine a situation where you’re trying to fill out a form and your phone starts bringing up sensitive details that haven’t been called for. This can be annoying when you’re alone, but even more compromising when someone is watching you fill out said form.

Google understands that this can be an issue for some, and it is taking relevant action to mitigate the privacy issue.

These gaps are hard to ignore

The tech giant just shared Google Play services v26.14 (2026-04-13)’s April 2026 release notes, and they clearly lay out Google Wallet-related upgrades (via Android Authority).

You can now control how private passes in Wallet work with other Google services like Autofill through new per-pass privacy settings.

You can now use a redesigned Wallet interface for quick access, search, and discovery.

The latter doesn’t concern us here. Instead, it’s the former that’s going to bring privacy-related changes. According to it, users will have the option to individually define each pass’ privacy settings, preventing some from automatically surfacing via Autofill unless explicitly permitted.

This is different from the current implementation, where if you want Autofill to work with Google Wallet, you have to open the gates to all passes, IDs, cards, and more.

Although not explicitly mentioned by Google, the folks over at Android Authority pointed at this being a generic privacy toggle.

Passport

The update hasn’t landed widely just yet. Expect it to be available in phases over the coming weeks. Once available, for example, you’d be able to give Google permission to autofill your passport details for a frequent flyer booking, all while keeping your driver’s license strictly ‘eyes-only’ within the Wallet app.
