He-Man's Bad Ass PS5 Brawler Just Got Delayed Two Weeks Before Release 1

Oh no! Bitmap Bureau’s beautiful retro beat-’em-up He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction was due out in just two weeks, on 28th April.

But now it’s been delayed until a nebulous date in the summer!

Writing on X (or Twitter), publisher Limited Run Games said while the licensed brawler is “nearing the end of development […] additional time is needed”.

It added: “We can assure you that you’ll be venturing through Eternia in no time as He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and She-Ra in peak arcade glory.”

UK-based studio Bitmap Bureau has been busy, to be fair. It released the acclaimed Terminator 2D: No Fate late last year, so while we’re sure a different team has been working on this project, that’s a lot of game in a short space of time.

Also worth noting is the release date of the rebooted Masters of the Universe movie, which is due out this June. Perhaps the publisher has decided to align the release of the game alongside the film for maximum commercial impact.

Either way, it’s already April so we’re probably not looking at a huge delay here – maybe a couple of months or so.

Having got our hands-on this one at Gamescom, where we fell in love with its chunky sprites and classic arcade gameplay, we’ll wait patiently for the final product this summer.
