Charlie’s GF Treats is said to be continuing to grow in popularity, providing ‘high-quality’ baked goods for both individual customers and businesses from Woolsbridge Industrial Estate in Wimborne.

Business owner, Charlotte Biss, began baking after years of struggling with food intolerances.

During her early school years, she regularly experienced stomach issues and was often unwell.

For a long time, these symptoms were dismissed as part of growing up, until she was later diagnosed with gluten intolerance and IBS.

Following the diagnosis, Charlie found it difficult to enjoy food in the same way as others.

Limited options and lack of variety led her to begin experimenting in her own kitchen, learning to cook, bake and understand food hygiene while developing recipes that worked for her dietary needs.

Over time, she refined her approach, focusing on creating gluten-free baked goods that match the taste and texture of traditional products.

Her early work, including items such as chocolate brownies and cakes, laid the foundation for what would become Charlie’s GF Treats.

Charlie said the aim has always been to improve access to good-quality gluten-free food.

She said: “Growing up, I struggled to find food I actually enjoyed eating. That’s what pushed me to start creating my own recipes.

“Now it’s about giving other people with allergies and intolerances the kind of normal food experiences I felt I missed.”

The business now operates from a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, designed to be safe for coeliac customers, with no gluten present on site.

This allows the bakery to provide products with a strong emphasis on safety, consistency, health, hygiene and quality.

Alongside the brownies and cakes, the business also offers savoury items, available for both nearby delivery and wider orders.

Alongside individual customer orders, the business has increasingly focused on supporting local cafés, coffee shops and food outlets.

By supplying gluten-free products in larger quantities, the bakery enables businesses to expand their menus and cater for customers with dietary requirements without needing specialist in-house production.

As awareness of food allergies and intolerances continues to grow, demand for reliable gluten-free options has increased and Charlie’s GF Treats is aiming to meet that demand.
