The UK released the last ERA payment of £752 million, earmarked for urgent security and defense needs, with funding tied to frozen Russian assets.

Ukraine has received the latest tranche from the United Kingdom totaling £752 million (about $1 billion) under the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) initiative, aimed at strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine announced this.

“Grateful to the Government of the United Kingdom for its steadfast and decisive support of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression for the fifth year of full-scale war. The provided funding has a targeted purpose and will be directed to meet the priority needs of the security and defense sector.”

Details of ERA Funding and Context

This tranche is the last under ERA, with a total of $50 billion for G7 countries; previously Ukraine received two earlier tranches totaling £1.5 billion in March and April 2025.

The funds are provided under the ERA mechanism and are to be serviced and repaid from future proceeds from frozen Russian sovereign assets. The financing is planned for thirty years.

It is also noted that on March 1, 2025, Ukraine’s Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko and the United Kingdom’s Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves signed an agreement to provide Ukraine with £2.26 billion for defence needs.

ERA instruments underscore the international community’s joint efforts to support Ukraine’s defense capabilities and economic stability during the protracted crisis. Such steps help ensure the priority needs of the security and defense sector and support the use of Russia’s frozen assets in Ukraine’s interests.
