And in his pre-match comments to Sky Sports, head coach Sam Burgess confirmed his absence is related to internal discipline having missed a training session earlier this week.

During the week, it was reported that the full-back was to be stood down for the Round 21 clash for disciplinary reasons.

The Australian was named in The Wire’s 21-man squad for the game after these reports emerged but now, it has been confirmed he is missing from the final matchday 17.

“It’s an internal discipline thing,” Burgess said when asked about Dufty’s absence.

“Matt missed a session earlier in the week – it’s happened with other players throughout the year so we’ve stood him down and he’ll miss a game.

“I will say he’s been great since – he’s behaving himself and he’s been in good spirits so we’ll see him next week.”

Stefan Ratchford has been named to start at full-back – usual understudy Cai Taylor-Wray was named in the 21-man squad but the game comes too soon for his return from a torn hamstring.

Zack Gardner’s expected return to the centres in place of Connor Wrench, who misses out under concussion protocol, is the only other change to Warrington’s 17.
