Liverpool boss Arne Slot on getting more time on the training ground now his side are out of Europe: “We have seen this season a lot of good performances but also a lot of inconsistent performances and in my mind that is because we have mostly had to play with the same players. Maybe that is one of the reasons why we have conceded late goals.
“Even in the last game I had to bring Joe [Gomez] in and then bring him out, there were three players playing in the right-back position again as has happened so many times this season.
“It has been shown that a large part of our group are ready to play every three days but it is also shown that not all of them are able to do that, and either get injured or see a drop in performance.
“From that perspective, maybe it is a good thing we are not in Europe anymore. But I would definitely prefer to be playing in Europe because that can give energy to the group.
“I don’t see it as a positive thing that we are out of Europe. In reality we have a bit more time on the training ground now.”
