Grant Mitchell is back on EastEnders very soon according to a new release by the BBC soap.
Ross Kemp was confirmed to be reprising his role recently, a year on from his last stint during the 40th anniversary episodes. Grant heads back to Walford after his estranged son Mark Fowler Jr reaches out to him via voicemail next week.
Now, new pictures show Grant back in Walford, and back with his family. One image shows him with his siblings Phil Mitchell and Sam Mitchell, while his son Mark also appears.
This is the first time Grant has seen his son in 10 years. Back in 2016, Grant had only just found out Michelle Fowler’s son Mark was his child, and Mark soon learned the truth too.

Neither of them acted on this, and they both went their separate ways. This will be their first scenes together since then, as the pair reunite amid concern growing for troubled Phil.
Grant’s brother Phil suffered from depression in a heartbreaking storyline last year. With his close friend Nigel Bates’s health declining amid his dementia battle, Phil is in a bad way.
Sam and Mark agree Grant should be home, but also he should be informed of Nigel’s ill health. With Mark wondering if this will be what brings the Mitchells back together again, he makes the call.
But how will Phil react to Grant being back in Albert Square, and will it be awkward for Grant and Mark? The scenes of Grant’s return will air on Monday 27 April, seemingly confirming that this is his return date.
It was announced in February that actor Ross, who debut on the show in 1990, would be back as Grant this year. Discussing the comeback, Ross said he was delighted to be included in Nigel’s storyline.

He said: “I’m truly delighted to be stepping back into Grant Mitchell’s shoes and returning to EastEnders later this year. As well as exploring Grant’s attempts to reconnect with his son Mark, it’s especially an honour to be part of Nigel’s powerful ongoing dementia storyline, which holds deep personal meaning for me due to a close family connection in real life.”
EastEnders’ Executive Producer Ben Wadey also teased the return, suggesting there was plenty of drama on the way. He commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Ross back once more to the legendary role of Grant.
“The Mitchells remain one of EastEnders’ defining dynasties, and we can’t wait to see them reunited again. As always when Grant is around, drama inevitably follows him.”
