Coronation Street appears to have addressed a complaint from fans during the Todd Grimshaw abuse plot as they shared an update on his mother, Eileen.
As those who follow the ITV soap know, Todd has been suffering domestic violence at the hands of his partner, Theo Silverton, for months but it was this week, following a violent attack, then the undertaker found the courage to report the abuser to the police.
In a heartbreaking episode of Corrie dedicated to the storyling on Wednesday (April 15), Todd was seen getting his injuries documented at the police station when he locked eyes with another domestic abuse victim, being escorted through the station by PC Jess Heywood.

It stopped him in his tracks as she appeared horrified by what she could see, while also carrying an injury of her own. Todd was then heard telling Kit and DS Lisa Swain the true extent of what he’s been facing at the hands of Theo.
He also told them about the secret camera footage that had been recorded and what would prove what has been going on, and how the late Billy Mayhew was the only one to know about the videos, and how they had been edited by Theo to make Todd think he was in the wrong.
While Todd was giving his statement, back on the street, Gary Windass cornered Theo and threatened him with a wrench, forcing him into the van before making their way to the police station where Kit was seen arresting him for ABH and false imprisonment, and Lisa was later seen questioning the abuser.
After trying to push the blame onto Todd, asking if they were being treated the same, Theo was held for the night in custody by Lisa. Meanwhile, Todd was being treated in the hospital as it was revealed he had suffered a number of injuries, included a lacerated spleen and internal bleeding.
But during Thursday’s (April 16) follow-up visit to the cobbles, Todd’s loved ones, including Sarah, were horrified to learn that Theo would likely be released as the police needed time to gather evidence, including the video footage which Todd said proves what has been going on.

After trying to get the evidence for herself, before being caught by Theo and reported to the police, a guilty Sarah Platt visited Todd and alongside George Shuttleworth, who was furious with her actions. She apologised to Todd and said she’d understand if he never wanted to talk to her again but he said it was “ok”, before heartbreakingly adding: “I knew he’d get away with it. He always does.” While George tried to reassure him it was over, Todd said: “It won’t stop. He won’t stop until he’s broken me completely.”
As Friday’s (April 17) episode arrived, Todd was released from the hospital and headed back to his former home, No.11 Coronation Street, where he was being fussed over by George, Christina Boyd and Mary Taylor. It was in the episode that Todd decided to give his mum, who left the Street last year for a new life in Thailand a call to let her know what has been happening.
When he returned from making the call, Todd revealed: “She’s livid. She wants to get a flight, tear him limb from limb. Trust me, she would only make things worse.”
And it comes after Corrie fans were left confused as to why Eileen, and Todd’s brother Jason Grimshaw, hadn’t been mentioned previously. @Christi23639540 commented: “#corrie surely, Eileen will have to be brought back for a while at least, or are we supposed to think she doesn’t know about todd.” @J_WBerry asked: “At what point will someone in #Corrie decide it’s time to contact Eileen & Jason to let them know what is happening to Todd?”
@TweetieeTy complained: “Gail gets a mention, but Todd nearly gets killed, and I still haven’t heard them mention Eileen #corrie.” @LeeElvis1982lee added: “I understand actors leave their role but can’t the writers just write that Eileen and Jason have come back to comfort Todd but we just don’t see them on screen because Eileen would be straight on the first plane home and no way would George not tell her what’s gone on #corrie.”
