The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, which sits on east cliff promenade, is now offering guests the opportunity to view the ‘Flowers Fairies: Enchantment by the Sea’ exhibition from March, 28 to October 4, 2026.

The exhibition celebrates the timeless artistry of Cicely Mary Barker’s paintings which are modelled on real children and blend botanical accuracy and imaginary fairies, first published in 1923.

The exhibition features 30 original Flower Fairies illustrations, with accompanying sketches and rarely seen preparatory studies, including never-before seen landscapes by the artist of Dorset and its surrounding areas.

The exhibition also presents work from Cicely which was directly inspired by her visits well loved landmarks in the county including scenes from Swanage, Highcliffe and Hengistbury Head.
Russell-Cotes are encouraging visitors to plan ahead and immerse themselves in the exhibition, which promises to blend artistry, nature and storytelling.
