Basildon and Billericay firefighters at Waltham Abbey blaze

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service was called to the blaze at Galley Hill Road, Waltham Abbey, at about 6pm.

Ten crews from Basildon, Billericay, Grays, Brentwood, Harlow, Loughton and Ongar are on the scene.

A spokesperson said: “Firefighters were working to surround the fire and extinguish it in sections.

“Due to difficult water access, firefighters have requested a further two crews and two Water Bowsers to get water to the scene.

“Ten crews are working to tackle the fire in sections from the ground and are also using an Aerial Ladder Platform to tackle the fire from above.”
