Manchester United are putting plans together ahead of the summer transfer window. Michael Carrick’s side are in a commanding position to secure a Champions League place, helping the club map out their recruitment strategy.
One of United’s key priorities will be appointing a new permanent manager. While interim boss Carrick is staking his claim for the vacancy, whoever gets the job will face pivotal decisions in the transfer market.
Marcus Rashford ’s future has been a long-standing topic of discussion, following his successive loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona. The England international has repeatedly stated his desire to stay with the Catalan club, who have the option to make his stay permanent for £26million.
However, there have been suggestions that Rashford will not make a permanent switch to Barcelona, opening the door for a possible return to Old Trafford. The 28-year-old fell out of favour under former boss Ruben Amorim and last played for United in December 2024.
Meanwhile, the Spanish giants are reportedly rivalling United in the race to sign highly-rated Brazilian prospect Eduardo Conceicao. Here, Mirror Football takes a look at some of the biggest headlines surrounding the club.

Marcus Rashford faces transfer U-turn
Rashford has previously outlined his wish to stay at Barcelona since joining on loan from United last summer. The forward has made 43 appearances for his parent club so far this term, scoring 12 goals and registering 13 assists.

In October, when asked if he would like to make his loan spell permanent, Rashford told ESPN: “Oh yeah, for sure. I’m enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player it is an honour.”
However, a report from Spanish outlet Marca has claimed that Rashford is one of five players set to leave in the upcoming transfer window. It is said that the United loanee is among a handful of players who have “completed a cycle”, which could lead him to return to his boyhood club this summer.
The report explains that Rashford’s displays have “left mixed impressions”, prompting Barcelona to opt against triggering his buy option. Experienced striker Robert Lewandowski is another of the five players expected to move on, alongside Andreas Christensen, Marc Casado and Frenkie de Jong.

Barcelona rival Man Utd for £34m target
Barcelona are reportedly one of several clubs battling Manchester United in the race to sign Palmeiras star Eduardo Conceicao. The 16-year-old has captured widespread attention, with Manchester City among those also credited with an interest in the teenager.
Brazilian outlet UOL has reported that United are prepared to pay around £34m for the Brazil U17 international. It is added that Palmeiras are yet to receive any new offers but are aware of the demand surrounding the starlet.
The Brazilian club are said to value the forward at approximately £43.5m, despite not yet making a first team appearance. If the youngster does agree to a transfer, he would remain at Palmeiras until December 2027, when he turns 18.
