Certain households will be affected by payment changes in May

There will be state pension payment changes for some over-65s during May.
Money will be landing in bank accounts at different times for these households.
So it’s important to be aware of when money will be arriving during the month.

The changes are happening because of the two May bank holidays.
The DWP does not issue payments on these dates.
So pensioners expecting their cash on these dates will get their money early instead.
The full state pension is now worth around £965 a month.
Households will be only affected if their pay dates are due to fall on the bank holidays.
Payments are normally brought forwards to the nearest working day instead.

The two May bank holidays are on May 4 and May 25.
So payments will be made for affected pensioners on Friday, May 1 and Friday, May 22 instead.
Payment changes will also affect those in receipt of DWP benefits.
Households whose usual payment dates fall outside of the bank holidays will not be affected.
They should get their cash as usual.
Affected people may need to budget to ensure they have enough money to last them until their next pay date.
