EastEnders star Ronni Ancona has opened up about her real-life theft ordeal, after her phone was snatched on the street last year. The actor, who plays newcomer Bea Pollard, was leaving the Leicester Square premiere of Sadie Frost’s Twiggy when the criminal struck.
“I was taking some investors and people involved in the film from the Vue Cinema to the afterparty in Soho,” she told The Daily Mail. “The theft was by someone on foot, someone very deft of hand – I was absolutely devastated.”
She added: “I tracked my phone, it went everywhere and ended up in the Middle East.”

Ancona explained that she was concerned about the thief getting access to her all-star contact list after swiping her device.
“It’s worrying because I’ve got lots of famous contacts on my phone, though their names are under code,” she said. “Luckily, I got a young person to help me wipe the data.”
On the flip side, Ancona’s character Bea has been doing some thieving of her own on Albert Square, following her arrival earlier this year. Recent episodes have seen Bea stealing Honey Mitchell’s identity to apply for credit cards, and racking up huge debts in her friend’s name.
As well as defrauding Honey, Bea has also been acting very strangely towards the mother-of-two, seemingly trying to take her place within the family. Though her intentions still remain unclear, her obsessive and jealous nature has left fans worried for Honey’s safety.

Meanwhile, Honey isn’t the only target of Bea’s mystery agenda, as recent episodes have seen her cosying up to Ian Beale, after discovering his substantial wealth. Bea quickly appealed to Ian’s ego, making her romantic interest known.
Though the pair had a strange double date with Billy and Honey, Ian was impressed when Bea picked up the tab. Is she playing the long game to win Ian’s affections and secure herself a new meal ticket?
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
