Next week on Casualty, a devastating tragedy on the neonatal unit leads to huge danger for the paramedic team. Meanwhile, things are awkward between Stevie and Matty at work, and Cam struggles to make a difference in his new role.

Here is our round-up of all the biggest moments coming up in the next episode of the current boxset, ‘Lethal Legacy’.

1. Rash loses his first babyrash masum, casualty episode 1

Rash is working on the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) looking after Faith and Iain’s baby Pearl, as well as fellow premature baby Zac – with viewers meeting parents Laura and Joel in the previous episode. Mums Faith and Laura bond and head for a coffee together, but things go wrong when Zac suddenly deteriorates. Despite the best efforts of Rash and the team, Zack tragically dies.

In the aftermath, Rash takes Laura and Joel to the butterfly room to say goodbye to their baby, but devastated Joel can’t face this this heartbreaking task and runs off.

2. Stevie calls things offstevie nash, casualty episode 1

As Flynn informs the team that they are dealing with an unknown toxin instead of a virus, things are awkward between Stevie and Matty, who secretly slept together. The pair are forced to put their tension to one side though, when they work together to perform a craniotomy on a patient in resus.

Stevie makes clear to Matty that what happened between them was a one off, but she struggles to hide her disappointment when he agrees. She consults bestie Faith for advice, but what will Stevie decide to do about her surprise fling?

3. Cam feels stuckcameron mickelthwaite, casualty episode 1

While the army is stood down in the ED, there are still patients lining the corridors in the hospital. Having been left in charge of those without a proper ward, Cam feels useless and begs Siobhan to give him a different role. But as his next shift on the corridor unfolds, can Cam find a way to make a difference?

4. The paramedics are in dangerteddy gowan, casualty

It’s a busy day for the ambulance crew, with Teddy stepping up to lead paramedic during Iain’s paternity leave, while Jan struggles to train new call handler recruit Kian in the control room. But things take a frightening turn when grieving Joel heads to the call centre and knocks Teddy unconscious when he tries to intercept him.

Convinced that Zac died because the ambulance was diverted when Laura went into labour, Joel uses Teddy’s lanyard to enter the control room and pulls out a knife as he confronts Jan and the team. Will everyone survive this dangerous ordeal?

5. Jan offers supportjan jenning, casualty episode 10

Ahead of this nightmare shift, Jan gets word that Siobhan was seen leaving the prison recently. She assumes that Siobhan was visiting a relative so reaches out, as she is able to empathise with having a loved one behind bars. But viewers know that Siobhan was actually visiting the man who raped her, though she eventually decided against facing her attacker. Will Siobhan be able to open up to Jan?

6. Nicole makes a decisionnicole, casualty

Nicole is in the process of buying a house and is preparing to put down a deposit on a property, but she is worried about parting with so much cash as she doesn’t know what the future holds. When she has a successful day at work, glowing praise from Flynn encourages her to put down the deposit. But is this something Nicole will come to regret?

Organisations including Sands and Tommy’s are able to offer help and support to anyone affected by baby loss.

Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission.
